Security is vital for every nation. While our Armed Forces, Army, Navy and Air Force have the responsibility of guarding the nation against foreign invasions, paramilitary organizations and other protective services have been constituted to maintain internal security and also to support the Defence Services in guarding our national borders. The paramilitary services are for job seekers who aspire to serve the nation for its defence and security.
These services are Central Government services which have a demarcated role of action. While the organizational structure, hierarchy and training may vary the basic ethos of work, discipline and commitment are akin to those found in the Defence Services. Paramilitary services offer challenge and adventure and provide opportunity to work in a variety of places. These services offer opportunity to entrants after Class X, XII or graduation and have openings for students of science and humanities. Women can also enter paramilitary services.
The organizations serving to maintain internal law and order, guarding our frontiers, enforcing excise and custom regulations and ensuring security for people and property are - the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Border Security Force (BSF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Coast Guards, State Police Forces and Home guards, Railway Protection Forces, Fire Services.
