What English Level do I need to study in Australia
"There are a number of tests available that are designed to assess your English language ability, for example, IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and OET (Occupational English Test).
In Australia, IELTS is the most widely accepted English language test. IELTS is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge, the British Council and IDP Education Australia, and is the main test for students seeking to enrol in study in Australia.
TOEFL is most widely accepted in the United States but Australian institutions also accept TOEFL. Before you take an English language test you should check that it is accepted by your chosen education provider. "


What if I don't meet the entry requirements for admission in Australia?
If you do not meet the entry requirements for further study in you can enrol in secondary school in Australia. If you do not meet undergraduate course entry requirements you may be able to enrol in Foundation Studies which prepare you for further study in Australia and reserve a provisional place in your proposed course. Bridging courses, such as a Master Qualifying program, are also offered. There are also many English language courses with starting dates throughout the year to prepare you for further study in Australia. It is recommended that you seek advice from the institution about meeting their entry requirements before applying for admission into your selected courses.

What is the application procedure for Graduate Studies in Australia?

The requirements and process of applying to Australian universities for Postgraduate (Master's & Doctoral Degree) courses are as follows: Most Australian universities accept the graduation system of three years for entry into most postgraduate courses. An Indian bachelor degree like B.A., B.Com. or B.Sc. (ordinary) is equivalent to a Australian Bachelor (Ordinary) Degree.

However, some courses and universities may require a qualification equivalent to Australian Bachelor (Honours) Degree, which requires either a honours graduation degree like B.A. (H), B.Comm (H) etc or 16 years of formal education, which would mean another year after graduation or a four year degree course like B.E., B.Tech and other such courses.

1. Full details of your education including your course subjects and grades are required in the applications. Transcripts or official records of your previous academic qualifications are crucial for your application.

Students applying for admission are required to submit an official transcript from each college or university that they have attended after secondary school with complete details of the subjects, credits involved and other details like correspondence courses, diplomas etc.

What is the application porcedure for undergraduate or bachelors studies in Australia?

How much funds do I need to show at the time of applying for Student Visa for study in Australia?

"For Masters and Doctorate Courses

Sponsors must provide evidence of cash assets for the first year tuition fee (as on the letter of offer) and living expenses (assumed at A$ 12000 p.a.) and access to additional funds (from acceptable sources) to meet the cost of the remainder of study and stay in Australia.

Commercial loans from Banks and government loans are acceptable.

In case the applicant holds a partial scholarship from an Australian institution or an institution in India ( eg. Educational Trusts), funds to cover the remaining costs must be provided as prescribed above.

Private corporate sponsorship is acceptable subject to certain conditions. However if the company is a family owned business and if one/both parents are directors/partners, it is treated as a parent sponsor.



Students with Dependants (Spouse/Children)

Costs could be expected to increase by atleast 35% if the student has a spouse, a further 20% (plus A$ 8000 p.a. for school fees if the child is 5 years or older) if the student has one child, a further 15% for each additional child plus school fees. The above amounts apply irrespective of whether they will accompany the applicant. Individual return travel costs need to be taken at A $ 1500 approx."

Can I work while studying in Australia?

"International students at the higher education level can work on a casual basis (upto 20 hours a week) during course time and full time during vacation periods, provided this does not interfere with their study program.

Universities and TAFE institutions have a Careers Office, which regularly posts employment vacancies.

Before gaining paid part-time employment, you must lodge an application for a ‘student visa with permission to work’ with the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA). You can only do this once you have started your course in Australia. "

What are the documents required for admission in any Australian Universities?

Universities require Officially Certified Copies of documents. Your documents may include:

Completed application form
The ID page(s) of your passport showing your personal details and passport number Academic record(s) for at least the most recent 2-3 years of study - i.e. list of subjects and results for entire course(s)
Award certificate for the above course(s) - i.e. the piece of paper you hang on the wall to show you have completed the course
Evidence of English Language Proficiency - IELTS score (The need for IELTS score depends on your study history, study plans and the passport you hold)
Work Experience - References from employers (full-time positions) These should be on company letterhead, and show the period you were employed, position, responsibilities, and how well you performed.

An Australian Government survey showed that in terms of total costs—including tuition fees and living expenses—Australia is consistently less expensive than the USA and UK and other developed countries. Tuition fees will vary depending on the course or institution. Living costs too will vary by location, course and lifestyle. For Undergraduate Degrees (Arts, Buiness , Economics and Law)you need to pay the tution fees between A$ 10,000-A $ 13,500 per year and for Science and Engineering courses the tution fees range between A$11,000-A$ 16,500 per year. For Post Grdauate Degrees begin A $ 11,000-A$ 18,500 per year.Main intake for all Australian Institutions/Universities is Februray and July for some Universities and Colleges November.

Do I need a Visa to study in the Australia?

"Yes, if you wish to study in Australia for more than three months you will need a student visa. If you are studying an English language course (ELICOS) or a short course that is fewer than 12 weeks long you can study as a tourist or visitor to Australia.You cannot apply for your student visa until you are accepted by your Australian education provider and have received formal proof of offer or enrolment, which is known as an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).
