Study in Singapore


What English level do I need to study in Singapore
All applicants are required to have an internationally recognized English language qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum score that is accepted for entry is IELTS 6 or TOEFL Paper Based 550 or TOEFL Computer Based 213. Some departments may require a higher score.

Application procedures are dependent on the type of institutions the students are applying to. In general, you need to check the application procedures with the educational institution of your choice. Check the course brochures or website of the university of your choice to see if you meet the course requirements.
Apply directly to the educational institutions accompanied by the relevant certification and documentation. Please note that local universities accept online applications.
Some institutions or courses will require you to undergo an interview or placement test.
Upon acceptance, you will be sent a Letter of Offer. Applicants who apply online to local universities can check their application status online.
Sign the acceptance form and return it by the closing date.
You will receive a package and should plan to be in Singapore at least two weeks before the semester commences.

Visa to study in Singapore

Medical examination before applying for studies in Singapore
Do I need to give any medical examination before applying for studies in Singapore?

If you are a new applicant and not in Singapore, the medical examination can either be done in your home country or in Singapore by a qualified doctor. However, the medical examination required for subsequent renewal of the Student's Pass must be done in Singapore. The doctor must record and certify the results of the medical examination in the designated medical report form. The medical report should not be issued more than 3 months from the submission date of your application or renewal. If a medical report was submitted to ICA or MOM not more than 2 years from your submission date, there is no need to re-submit a fresh medical report. (The above requirement is not applicable to applicants who are below 15 years old.)

Application procedure for Singapore Student Pass
How to apply for a Singapore Student Pass?

"To apply for a student pass, you must first be offered a full-time course and you need to have accepted the same from an educational institute within the list of Institute(s) of Higher Learning (IHL) in Singapore. Once you get yourself registered as a prospective student with the IHL, you become eligible to apply online for the visa through the Students Pass On-Line Application and Registration (SOLAR) System, accessible at www.ica.gov.sg.

For a new application, you need to submit:

A medical report (not more than 3 months old) in the prescribed form,
A copy of the in-principle approval letter,Duly signed copy of eform16, and
Test of a medical examination taken in your home country.

Part-time work during term time in Singapore
As a foreign student can I do part-time work during term time in Singapore?

"Foreign students are not allowed to engage in any form of employment in Singapore, whether during term time or vacation time, unless they are granted Work Pass exemption under the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) Notification. A Work Pass is not required for a foreign student if he/she is of 14 years of age or above, on vacation, and a full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the institutions approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

A Work Pass is not required for a foreign student if he/she works a maximum of 16 hours a week and is a full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the institutions approved by MOM.
