Textile Technologists are trained through B.Tech. courses after Class XII (PCM). Students with a good background in Chemistry may prefer to study Textile Chemistry. Some B. Tech. (Textiles) courses are offered only to graduates of Chemistry. The revised curriculum for the four-year degree courses in textile technology incorporates the latest developments in spinning, knitting and weaving alongwith the use of IT and sophisticated machinery, international marketing etc. This has been spearheaded by the Nodal Central for Upgradation of Textile Education (NCUTE). Graduate Textile technologists can pursue M.Tech. in the subject. Students qualifying GATE may apply for scholarship seats while other graduates with minimum 55% aggregate get the self financing seats.

The Synthetic and Art Silk Mills Research Association (SASMIRA) is a cooperative venture set up by the man-made Textile Industry as multipurpose, multifunctional institute to serve its scientific and technological needs. SASMIRA has been designed by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India as the Nodal Centres for testing Technical Textiles, dealing with the emerging technology area of value added textiles applications. The educational programme of SASMIRA has been formulated with a view to build up a cadre of competent technologists and executives for various sectors of the man-made fibre and textile industry.
Courses
* Post Graduate Diploma course in Management and Marketing of Man-made Textiles. The course aims to provide the necessary training for administrative (Management and Marketing)responsibilities in man-made textiles and allied industries/training small entrepreneurs. Duration - 1-year full time
Eligibility - Graduate in Arts/Commerce/Law/Science/Engineering or Technology. Session starts in August.
* 1-year part-time Diploma in Management and Marketing of Man-made
Textiles.
* 3 years full-time Diploma in Man-made Textile Technology.
* 3 years full-time Diploma in Man-made Textile Chemistry.
Courses 3 and 4 are designed for those who wish to make a career in Mechanical (Spinning Weaving) Processing of Manmade Textiles.
* Diploma in Knitting Technology. This course is designed to provide specialisation in the technology of knitting.
* Diploma in Man-made Fibre Manufacture. This course is meant for training for supervisory personnel required for the production of man-made fibre manufacturing units.
Eligibility - For courses 3,4,5, and 6 the standard of admission is Class X or equivalent with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
As the first and second semester of all the diploma courses is partly devoted to the study of basic science, candidates who have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for admission directly to the third semester although they have to clear certain core subjects in the first and second semester examinations held at the end of each academic semester by the Institute.
* 1 year part-time Certificate in Dyeing and Finishing of Wool and Synthetics.
* 1 year part-time Certificate in Weaving of Man-made Fibre Fabrics.
* 1 year part-time Certificate in Wet-processing of Man-made Fibre Fabrics.
* 1 year part-time Certificate in Wet-processing of Man-made Textiles.
* 1 year part time Certifiate course in Textile Testing and Quality Control.
Courses 7, 8, 9, 10 are designed to prepare skills and knowledge to become operators/supervisors / quality control assistants, officers, managers in textile industries.
Eligibility - Candidates must have passed Class X (SSC) examination/equivalent from a school in Maharashtra or be a domicile of the state.
B-Textile Technology - 4 years/M.Tech - 11/2 years
